Spider veins are small, dilated veins near the surface of the skin. They commonly appear on the thighs, lower legs, and ankles. They are most often blue or purple discolorations and form spider web (hence the name) or a tree branch patterns. When numerous, they tend to impart an unattractive appearance to the legs. They don’t often cause symptoms but patients occasionally report itching.
Spider veins on the thighs, lower legs, and ankles can be reduced or eliminated by a technique known as sclerotherapy. Using tiny needles, our specialists inject a small amount of an FDA approved solution into the spider vein causing the vein to shrink and disappear over time (2-3 weeks). Depending on the size of the spider vein the injection may have to be repeated 3-4 times over many weeks.
Because the needles used are so tiny and the experience of our specialists so great, most patients say they feel them barely if at all.
Most treatment sessions take 15-30 minutes. Many patients come in during their lunch break or on their way home from work.
Most sessions cost $350-$450
