Vascular Disease Diagnosis & Treatment

Vascular Screenings

Vascular disease and stroke can be prevented, detected, and treated - that's the good news. However, most people don't take the opportunity to be evaluated. Typically, during these screenings, 5-10% of people are found to have signs of vascular conditions, including blocked carotid arteries, aortic aneurysms and PAD (Peripheral Artery Disease). Most people never know they have a problem.

Vascular disease outside the heart, whether it involves the carotid arteries in the neck, the aorta, the arteries in the legs and arms or veins is similar to heart disease in the sense that it is caused by atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) or venous insufficiency (poorly functioning veins). The potential severity of these diseases is significant. It can lead to hospitalization, severe long term disability and can even be fatal. With early detection, most vascular disease cases can be treated effectively. There are several simple, ultrasound screening tests that detect these problems, all of which are non-invasive and painless.

Dr. Anker and his associates specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. We treat all conditions of the vascular system (arteries and veins). Our ICAVL-accredited vascular laboratory provides us with the information we need to recommend treatment. We are committed to educating people about the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of vascular disease. We offer vascular consultations and sonograms to evaluate people for possible peripheral vascular or arterial disease. If you have a family history of vascular disease, are over 50 years old, or have a history of high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, diabetes, or smoking (now or in the past) you should contact us

There are Many Treatment Options

There are effective treatment options for every type of artery and vein disorder. With today's technology, many of these treatment options can be done non-surgically on an outpatient basis. This means less down time, less expense and quicker return to normal life. Whether your treatment involves EVLT, microphlebectomy, angioplasty, atherectomy, stenting, or thromboloysis we will review your specific case thoroughly and make a joint decision on the best option - surgical or non-surgical - to ensure the best outcome for you.

Vascular Surgery

We have developed an in-office angiography suite where we perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. We specialize in minimally invasive techniques such as balloon angioplasty, atherectomy and stenting to treat blocked arteries responsible for pain and non-healing wounds. We also perform surgical and endovascular treatments at Good Samaritan Hospital, located three blocks from our office.

We offer both minimally invasive and open procedures to address a wide range of artery and vein disorders. It is always our goal to perform the most effective, least invasive procedure to address each specific medical issue. The faster we can correct the problem and help you return to your normal life, the better. Our ICAVL-accredited non-invasive vascular laboratory provides us with the information we need to recommend the best vascular treatment for your condition.
